Rekeying Two Locks While Keeping the Existing Hardware
The homeowner wanted the old keys disabled without purchasing replacement locks. Our technician removed both cylinders and changed their internal pin configurations to work with newly cut keys.
After reassembling the cylinders, we reinstalled them in the existing hardware. We then tested both locks to confirm that the new keys turned smoothly and that the deadbolt and lower entry lock operated correctly.
The original brass-finish hardware remained in place. Since both locks were functional, rekeying addressed the customer’s access concern without the expense of replacing the complete lock assemblies.
Once the work was finished, the previous keys no longer operated either lock. The homeowner received new keys and regained control over access through the front entrance.
