We were called to a private home in Old Tappan, New Jersey, where the rear sliding door would no longer open. The lock cylinder was jammed, and the handle moved freely without releasing the locking mechanism.
The problem had cut off direct access to the backyard. Every time the homeowners wanted to go outside through the rear of the house, they had to use another exit and walk around the entire property.
They contacted American Star Locksmith to open the stuck door and repair the lock so they could use their backyard entrance again.
Opening the Door Without Damage and Replacing the Cylinder
Our mobile locksmith arrived at the property and carefully opened the sliding door using an inflatable air wedge. The work was completed without damage to the door or frame.
With the door open, we could access and remove the jammed cylinder. We installed a replacement cylinder, restoring the homeowners’ ability to operate the lock and use the rear entrance.
Before finishing, we checked the door, handle, and lock to confirm proper operation. The homeowner also tested the door and confirmed that it opened and locked correctly.
The completed repair restored direct access to the backyard and eliminated the need to walk around the house whenever the homeowners wanted to reach it.
Our Door Lock Services include repairs and replacements for homeowners dealing with stuck locks, faulty cylinders, and doors that will not open properly.
