Touchscreen Code Entry with a Backup Key Option
We removed the existing deadbolt and installed the new Defiant electronic locking assembly. The replacement features a flat numeric touchscreen and a built-in mechanical key cylinder, combining code-based operation with a physical backup key.
Our technician aligned the bolt with the receiving opening in the frame and checked that it moved smoothly. Proper alignment matters because the locking mechanism needs to engage without requiring the residents to push or pull the door into position.
Once the hardware was fitted, we configured the couple’s personal access code. We then tested electronic locking and unlocking, followed by manual key operation, to confirm that both entry methods worked correctly.
The access code can be changed when the homeowners need to update keypad access, without replacing the entire deadbolt. The mechanical key remains a separate access method, so changing a code does not change which physical key operates the cylinder.
The finished installation gave the couple the convenience they wanted: a deadbolt they could operate using a personal code, with a backup key available when needed. Its touchscreen face also provided a clean, updated appearance for their condo entrance.
