Matching Brass Locks Fitted to a Tight Door Clearance
We inspected the existing hardware and recommended replacing both the broken entry knob and the upper deadbolt with a matching lock set in a polished brass finish. This addressed the damaged knob while giving the entrance a coordinated appearance.
The installation required particular attention to the narrow clearance between the door and frame. A standard rectangular latch faceplate could interfere with closing, so we selected a drive-in latch to suit the existing door preparation. Its round collar allowed us to fit the latch without adding a rectangular plate at the door’s edge.
After installing the new knob and deadbolt, we aligned the hardware and checked how the door met the frame. We tested the knob’s latch movement and the deadbolt’s engagement to confirm that both mechanisms operated smoothly.
The homeowner also wanted to avoid carrying separate keys for the two locks. We keyed the deadbolt and entry knob alike, allowing one key to operate both cylinders, and tested the key in each lock before completing the work.
The finished installation restored normal door operation and provided matching hardware with convenient one-key access.
