Fitting a Keyed Cam Lock to the Cabinet Door
We installed a compact metal cabinet cam lock. This mechanism combines a key-operated cylinder on the outside with a rotating metal arm on the inside. Turning the key moves the arm into or out of its locking position.
Our technician carefully fitted the cylinder to the cabinet door and adjusted the locking arm to engage with the cabinet frame. Correct positioning was important so the door could be secured without the mechanism binding during use.
After fitting the hardware, we tested the mechanism with the new keys. We checked that the arm moved correctly and that the cabinet could be locked, unlocked, and opened smoothly.
The completed installation gave the parents a keyed way to control access to the selected cabinet while keeping it convenient for their own use. Their request focused on a specific storage area, so the work involved adding a cabinet lock rather than changing the home’s entrance hardware.
This was a practical access-control upgrade completed before the family moved in. The lock added a physical barrier to the cabinet without requiring replacement of the cabinet door.
