Fitting the Mul-T-Lock Deadbolt to the Front Door
We started by inspecting the door, measuring its thickness, and checking the existing lock opening and backset. These measurements helped us fit the new cylinder and deadbolt assembly correctly.
The entrance has a light gray door with decorative raised panels and a glass section bordered by matching trim. Its existing handle is a long, curved pull handle with a thumb-operated latch above it, finished in a dark tone.
We installed the new deadbolt directly above the handle. Its round, dark housing complements the existing hardware, while the brass-colored cylinder at the center provides a visible contrast. This allowed us to upgrade the lock while keeping the entrance’s coordinated appearance.
We checked the strike plate and adjusted the alignment so the bolt could extend fully into the frame without resistance. Before finishing, we tested the lock several times from both sides to confirm smooth operation.
