Restoring Entry and Replacing the Failed Lock
We opened the apartment door and inspected the existing locking system. With the old mechanism no longer operating reliably, we replaced it with a new heavy-duty Jimmy-Proof lock.
This surface-mounted lock uses an interlocking bolt-and-strike arrangement. The lock body mounts on the inside face of the door, with its matching strike secured to the frame. Correct positioning is important so the two components engage and release smoothly.
Our technician removed the old hardware and secured the replacement lock to the door. We carefully aligned the strike with the locking bolts, checking that the mechanism engaged correctly when the door was closed.
After installation, we tested the key and interior locking control several times. We also checked that the tenants could open, close, lock, and unlock the entrance without the mechanism sticking.
