Adding Keyed Access to the Existing Bedroom Door
We removed the existing hardware and fitted a brass-finished keyed entry knob into the door’s existing opening. The replacement includes an integrated key cylinder and a spring-loaded latch, providing keyed access through the knob itself.
The installation focused on the customer’s specific request: adding a locking option to the bedroom without undertaking a larger door modification. Using the existing opening allowed us to fit the replacement hardware while retaining the door.
Our technician checked the latch alignment and adjusted the fit so the door would close properly. We then tested the key operation, knob movement, and latch engagement to confirm smooth performance.
A lock installation needs to work when the door is closed as well as when it is open. Checking how the latch meets the frame helped ensure that the tenant could secure and reopen the room without struggling with the hardware.
The completed installation gave the customer individual keyed access to their bedroom and greater privacy within the shared apartment.
