New Keys for the Existing Yale Storefront Lock
For this job, rekeying addressed the owner’s concern without requiring a replacement lock. The work changed which key operated the cylinder while retaining the existing Yale hardware.
Our technician carefully removed the mortise cylinder from the storefront door and disassembled it. We changed its internal pin combination to match a different key, then reassembled the cylinder and reinstalled it in the door.
After completing the rekey, we checked the new keys for smooth operation and confirmed that the previous keys no longer operated the serviced cylinder. The owner received a fresh set of keys and could decide who would have access going forward.
Keeping the existing hardware allowed the owner to avoid purchasing a new lock while resolving the immediate concern about old key copies.
